SaddleRidge National Night Out - August 3, 2004
Eighty-five residents attended the sixth Annual
Saddleridge Subdivision National Night Out Meeting on August 3, 2004 at the
Clubhouse. The event was coordinated by
Lee Gibson and included guest speakers CERT representative Lewis Smith, Hays
County Detective Sam Stock, Sergeant Larry Coker, Fire Chief Joel Cliett and
Texas Forest Service Specialist Jan Fulkerson.
The speakers expressed gratitude for the active
participation and citizen involvement in the Saddleridge Neighborhood Watch
Program. They said resident awareness
has been influential in discouraging and preventing problems for the past six
years and has substantially reduced law enforcement protection requirements.
Jan Fulkerson spoke of the Firewise Communities Program, which will be
incorporated within the Saddleridge Neighborhood Committee and report directly
to the Homeowners Association Board.
Joel Cliett told residents the new fire station near the Subdivision
south entrance would be operational in a few weeks.
The Neighborhood Watch Program is a self-help, community
crime prevention program, with the main objective to reduce crime by involving
citizens in their communities. The Saddleridge program has been commended by Sheriff Don Montague as one of the
best in Hays County.
